Book Reviews Book Review: The Botany of Desire December 9, 2019June 12, 2020 Naturalist Nate The Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan was a very interesting book about the historical relationship between humans and some of our crops, specifically apples, potatoes, marijuana, and tulips. I was hugely disappointed that he refused to eat GMO potatoes without really being able to explain why, especially considering his talk of potatoes made me feel the GMO ones were cleaner (fewer pesticides). But it was well-written and thought-provoking in general. We often think about our crops as our crops, but not a relationship going back thousands of years.
